Conjectures (Patterns that you notice. What you think happens every time you do something specific in Division)
Rules (Things you know happen every time you do a specific thing in math, like divide by 1)
First, write down one conjecture you see in a video, notice in your practice, or figure out in a game. Second, test your conjecture by trying to do the same actions with different numbers at least 3 times. Third, decide if you believe it is a rule or not.
EXAMPLE:
Conjecture: Every time I divide by 10, I notice that the answer is the same as the dividend, except it is one place value smaller.
Test: 1,220 divided by 10 = 122 (This matches my conjecture)
300 divided by 10 = 30 (This matches my conjecture)
670 divided by 10 = 67 (This matches my conjecture)
Because my conjecture worked every time, I think it is a rule.
Listen closely for rules during the videos.
They may say that you use a "PROPERTY." Properties are actually rules! Describe what the person on the video did. Then, look up the property and write the definition down. Finally, find at least one example of problems with the property used.
